Building a Digital Home for CIAMS Music Society
A website redesign to help CIAMS share upcoming music events, welcome new members, and make the society easier to explore online.

Overview
CIAMS is a Vancouver-based music society that brings people together through performances, workshops, and community events.
We focused on making events easy to browse, the society's story easy to understand, and the next step—attending, joining, or getting in touch—easy to take.
Clearer event discovery and stronger membership interest
Challenge
CIAMS had active programming, but the website did not make it easy for visitors to see what was coming up or why the society mattered.
Event information was scattered, key pages felt dated, and people interested in concerts, workshops, or membership had to work too hard to find the right details.
- Upcoming events were hard to scan quickly
- The society's purpose was not immediately clear
- Mobile browsing felt cluttered and inconsistent
- Calls to join or attend lacked a clear path
Strategy
We treated the site as a community front door—not just a brochure. Research and content review showed visitors needed three things fast: what CIAMS is, what events are happening, and how to get involved.
The redesign prioritized event visibility, a warmer introduction to the society, and clearer pathways for attendance, membership, and contact.
- 1
Homepage: introduce CIAMS and surface upcoming events
- 2
Events: make dates, details, and participation easy to understand
- 3
Membership: explain value and reduce friction to inquiry

Mobile-first layouts for on-the-go discovery
Execution
In Figma, we rebuilt the information architecture, page layouts, and responsive components—then shaped the site around how members and newcomers actually browse events.
- Homepage with clearer society positioning and event highlights
- Event listing and detail page templates
- Membership and about-page content structure
- Responsive layouts and reusable UI components
Result
The new site gave CIAMS a more credible digital presence—one that better matched the community behind the events and made upcoming programming easier to promote.
